As soon as this lady gets up from bed, all she can do is to stretch but she cannot yawn but only for a given time. Every habit concerning her mouth such as speaking and eating, and often involuntary actions has to be reduced for a time.
Popping jaws have been irritating this pretty blonde which she has endured for two years now. There are times when she eats in a restaurant, she feels like everyone around her can hear the popping sound from her jaws. Her jaws doesn't pop when she talks but when she opens her mouth or chews, it does.
She is worried about the cushion dislocation of the ball socket joint of the jaw within her TMJ. In a normal jaw, a cushion is present which positions itself on top of the ball part of the joint to keep the two bones from rubbing. In one who experiences a popping jaw, the pad, which is similar to a Frisbee in that is thin in the middle with thick edges, has been displaced, usually interiorly, as the result of a ligament that has been stretched.
If anything happens to the jaw such as that it is being damaged, it can cause pad displacement in no time. Majority of the time, the problem is being ignored and forgotten. Displacement doesn't only take effect in muscle tension headache but also in muscle spasms and in too much stretching of the ligaments.
Since the procedure is relatively new and is difficult, to be able to correct the problem, it involves shortening the elastic ligament attached to the end part of the pad, and then repositioning the pad which is in good condition. The amount of ligament to be removed is measured based on how far forward the pad is. A prosthetic pad sometimes replaces pads that definitely have no use anymore.
Ages 15 to 18 contributed to the victims of TMJ. Since the joint is very close to the ear canal, problems mostly start with ear pain according to them. Some TMJ victims will be cursed with this problem for the rest of their lives. Inflammation of the joint sets in after some time and if this problem goes on, after three to four years, arthritis can develop. It was intensely painful as if someone was ripping something in her ear.
Pain medication helped her attain good amounts of sleep even though it keeps her totally tired. Doctors weren't much of a help to her which is why she almost lost hope. At times, she thought of killing herself because of a serious depression which made her feel that the pain was endless. Others think that the pain that they currently feel has no end which is why they give up.
The supply of blood to her arm was constricted by muscle spasms and at the same time, she was experiencing nerve irritation which made her other nerves on the right side of her head, down to her arm distressed. Sometimes, there were times when her whole right side felt like it was in a charley horse or muscle cramp. Within a span of three months, rehabilitation takes place. The first two weeks after surgery, patients are told to rest their mouths, not opening them more than one centimetre if possible. The normal mouth opening is 40 millimeters which the patients are now beginning the process of exercising their jaws.
