Looking For A Quality First Guitar

As a new guitarist it is often easy to be tempted by the first bargain basement priced guitar you come across. As you are low on experience it is hard to know a good deal from a terrible one. It is also not uncommon for some guitar stores to be somewhat elite and unapproachable to the beginner.

Your first step should be to set yourself a budget. While a new Fender might be what you have your heart set on, it is most likely a little too much for you as a newbie. If you decide you don’t want to continue playing then it would have been a bit of a waste of cash. You also need to put money in your budget for things like a case, amp, tuner, strap, spare strings, picks and all of the other minor bits you might like to have.

If you have not done so by now, you will like to start thinking about what design of guitar fits the sound and image you want. Remember for every traditional expensive shape there will be a less costly alternative. Several of these less expensive choices are now well made instruments and should not be disregarded.

Now it is time to get out around a few guitar outlets. Make clear to the owner that you are a newbie and what kind of guitar you are after. Several will be able to suggest you a good package deal because you will be buying more than one item. Strive to handle as many guitars in your price range as you can. Get a sense for the comfort of the neck in you hand and the weight of the guitar on your body. If you get a bad feeling in the store then go on to the next one.

Ask to play the guitar. Never worry if you are not that good, or even if you can play a song. Bear in mind, every guitarist started like this. A number of good guitar shops will have a testing room where you can make as much noise as you like. Pay attention for buzzing on the frets and verify that all of the controls as well as the machine heads move freely and smoothly.

If you find a guitar you like then try to strike a deal with the vendor. Keep in mind that you are in a great position to get money off, or some items thrown in for free. If the vendor won't move on the price then carry on your search, you may locate a better deal, and if not you can always come back to the shop.

Ask any guitarist about their first guitar and no matter how inexpensive it was, they will always have something pleasant to say about it. In many cases they will still possess it as they will never want to part with it.
Author Resource:- There are many great quality guitars available now for new guitarists. We like the Mexican Stratocaster as it is a well made and long lasting guitar. There have also been many famous stratocaster players over the years for you to get an idea of the sounds associated with it.
