Guys and girls! Many of us love trinkets and the majority of us love rings. But for all those folks who do not, we don't have much of a choice in relation to getting engaged or married. Currently its customary to exchange rings. But rings can be worn for fashion or to indicate standing in civilization. The fact is that we tend to love rings and almost every culture in the world wears them. So where did our love of rings originate? Why do we love them so much? All this will likely be clarified with this short editorial.

Rings have been present in history as early as the Egyptian civilization of the pharaohs where rings have been seen with engravings of the beetle which were speculated to be a symbol of the globe. Rings are found elsewhere on the earth such as in North America amongst the Native American tribes and also in the Far East.

Rings became a huge deal in the contemporary planet with the beginning of medieval Europe. They were worn by one and all including the ruling class along with the peasants. The metals from which they were made signified the prosperity and standing of the wearers. In medieval Europe, rings were strongly affiliated with magical powers and influence. Just like in many Asian countries, certain forms of rings or the stones that they carried were linked to certain varieties of energies or Gods and were speculated to affect the wearers life in some constructive way.

In Asia, rings have always been magical or religious. Rings have always been useful to beat back evil or attract some kind of energy towards the wearer. People go to sages and gurus with the intention to acquire guidance on why they are having certain problems. All of life’s issues can usually be attributed to the alignments of the planets according to the Astrologer. The mystic will then prescribe a ring with a certain kind of stone in order to offset the offending bad energies related to planetary alignments. These rings give the wearer a sense of defense and hope. In present times, these beliefs have come under condemnation as irrational and harmful to society. But rings have always been in the histories of great civilizations.

Rings have also been an integral part of great stories. The Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien is among the greatest tales ever told. In this book, the ring has magical powers that shape the lives of almost every character. One of several reasons why rings are fascinating to people is due to very shape of the object. Certainly round and connected and almost signifies the character of the world and our lives.

Ring will always be a huge part of our earth. Today, rings are used for engagements and weddings. They are used to indicate love and devotion. They are used to unite two people together. Rings are excellent metaphors for life and give us hope and strength by reminding us the existence isn't linear but cyclical.
