"Beef Up" Your Door Security Hardware

The easiest way for a robber to get into a residential dwelling is through the front, back or garage doors. A skilled robber knows that the garage door is usually the easiest place to enter with the back door being next. And the reason is that either of these doors are less visible from the road and neighbors. The most frequent way a thief will force open a door is to simply kick it or "shoulder slam" it open.

FBI statistics show 73% of all breaking and entering is from door-frame failure. What is it about entrance doors that make them so easy for a robber to gain easy access into a home or office? Look carefully at your front door-frame and the lock-set that is installed. The area surrounding the deadbolt and door strike plate is the weakest part of your door. There is less than half an inch of softwood guarding the security of your abode.

The problem isn't the exterior door, hinges, deadbolt or locks. These items are all pretty strong in and of themselves. It's the door-frame (a.k.a door jamb or door casing) that is the weakest area. Door jambs are most often manufactured from softwood trees such as Pine, Spruce and Fir. These softwoods simply can't resist the power of a 1/2" to 3/4" solid steel deadbolt stem being forcefully slammed against them when a door is kicked or shoulder slammed open. Besides this, most typical door hinges and strike plates are only attached using small, short, weak one-half inch to three-quarter inch screws. This is easy to verify by simply removing one and measuring it for yourself.

So how would you go about securing your entryway doors? To make your doors more secure, start by beefing up the hardware in the door casings. The simplest and most affordable way to "beef-up" your doors is by installing heavy-duty metal door-casing reinforcement hardware using longer, high-strength screws that tunnel down deep into the wall studs. This will effectively replace those small, weak strike plates that are being held by short, inferior screws.

A good example of a door-casing reinforcement product is the Door Devil Anti-kick Door Security device. Three important and unparalleled features separate this product as way out in front of its competitors. Those distinctive and useful features are strength, ease of installation and guarantee. Let's talk about each one of those features:

1) Each Door Devil kit has everything you will need to kick-proof one standard-size entry door. The kit includes a 48" steel door-frame reinforcement security unit, 3.5" heavy-duty screws, window decals and a yard sign to signal to any would-be thief that your home is anti kick-in fortified. The unit is also designed with a unique 45 degree edge making it possible to withstand greater kick force while at the same time making the door easier to close after the product has been installed.

2) Installs easily right onto the existing door-casing. There is no need to dismantle the casing or hardware. The kit also comes with the proper drill bit to make the door security upgrade fast and simple. Typical installation takes less than half an hour per kit.

3) Door Devil comes with a 3x anti kick-in guarantee. No door security product will to stop a determined burglar, however, Door Devil has been so rigorously tested, that the manufacturers will refund triple the purchase price if their product is ever defeated. You will be hard pressed to find another door security product that carries such a guarantee.
